The 2026 XJT • Global Summer School hosted by Xi'an Jiaotong University, organized by Center for Drug Safety and Policy Research (CDSP) and Editorial Office of Pharmacoeconomics and Policy. Our distinguished international faculty includes globally acclaimed professors representing premier institutions: Tulane University (USA), McMaster University (Canada), King's College London (UK), City University of Hong Kong, Sun Yat-sen University, China Pharmaceutical University, and Xi'an Jiaotong University.
This summer program centers on cutting-edge advances in pharmacoeconomics and pharmaceutical policy research. Designed to create an interdisciplinary learning platform for global pharmaceutical students and researchers in related fields, it delivers an intensive international exchange experience.

【Lecturer Profile】
Professor Lizheng Shi
Professor Lizheng Shi is chair professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Tulane University, USA. He has served as President of the Chinese Health Policy and Management Society (2020–2022) and President of the Chinese Economists Society (2014–2015). Professor Shi has a unique interdisciplinary background, he received his pharmacy degrees from Shanghai Medical University and Peking Union Medical College, and later earned a Master's degree in Economics and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy from the University of Southern California. His pioneering research focuses on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and AI-driven healthcare analytics. Prof. Shi contributes as associate editor of Value in Health and editorial board member for key journals including Pharmacoeconomics.
Professor Yu Fang
Professor Yu Fang, National Young Talent, Ministry of Education of China; Vice Dean, School of Pharmacy, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China; Chair, ISPOR Northwest China Chapter; Vice-Chair, Pharmacy Administration Professional Committee, Chinese Pharmaceutical Association; Member, Pharmaceutical Economics Professional Committee, Chinese Pharmaceutical Association. He has rich experience in organizing drug policy surveys and PE/HTA analysis. Professor Fang has published more than 200 research papers, including some published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases. Editor-in-chief of Pharmacoeconomics and Policy (P&P).
Professor Feng Xie
Professor Feng Xie, Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McMaster University School of Medicine; Core Faculty, Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis (CHEPA); his research focuses on developing evidence-based methodologies for cost-effectiveness analysis of novel pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Principal investigator and co-investigator on >100 funded projects, including grants from European Foundation for Quality of Life Research (EuroQol), Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH), and Ontario Ministry of Health (MOH).
Professor Caijun Yang
Caijun Yang, Ph.D., professor, doctoral supervisor. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2008 and earned her Doctoral degree in Management Science and Industrial Engineering from School of Management, Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2014. From 2012 to 2013, she worked as a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, USA.
Her current research focuses on pharmaceutical policy and drug supply chain management. Specifically, her research centers on evaluating the impacts of pharmaceutical policies on diverse stakeholders, with a particular emphasis on patient-related outcomes and benefits.
She has presided over more than 30 research projects funded by prestigious institutions, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, Natural Science Foundation of Shaanxi Province, Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, and various government departments. She has published over 50 peer-reviewed papaers in international journals, including the Bulletin of the World Health Organization, JAMA Health Forum, and International Journal of Production Research.
Associate Professor Huajie Jin
Dr Huajie (Lily) Jin is a senior lecturer and deputy head of King’s Health Economics at King's College London. She is an honorary associate professor at University College London and the University of Warwick, an adjunct associate professor at the Institute for Global Health and Development, Peking University, and a young research fellow at the Shanghai Health Development Research Center.
Dr Jin’s research primarily focuses on health economic evaluation, cost-of-illness studies, and whole disease modelling. She leads the health economic components of several large-scale clinical trials and contributes to the cost assessment of advanced medical technologies for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Associate Professor Jifang Zhou
Dr. Zhou, associate professor, Pharmacoepidemiology & Health Services Research, China Pharmaceutical University. Dr. Zhou holds an M.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, an M.P.H. in Health Policy from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in Health Economics & Outcomes Research from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research leverages real‑world data to evaluate drug safety, treatment patterns, and health outcomes in oncology, cardiovascular disease, and chronic conditions. He has published extensively in journals including JAMA Network Open, Anesthesia & Analgesia, and the British Journal of Haematology. Earlier in his career, he served as a Medical Team Leader for Médecins Sans Frontières in Africa, bringing frontline clinical insight to his population‑health work.
Associate Professor Yawen Jiang
Dr. Yawen Jiang is an associate professor at the School of Public Health (Shenzhen), Sun Yat-sen University. His research focuses on health and pharmaceutical economics, health insurance, real-world evidence, and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.
He received the Value in Health Paper of the Year Award from the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), one of the most prestigious international awards in the field of health economics. He was the first scholar from outside Europe and North America to receive this award since its establishment 16 years earlier.
As an independent, first, or corresponding author, Dr. Jiang has published more than 50 papers in SSCI/SCI-indexed journals, including Health Economics, China Economic Review, Value in Health, PharmacoEconomics, Annals of Internal Medicine, Social Science & Medicine, and Communications Medicine. He serves as an associate editor of Health Economics Review, an editorial board member of PharmacoEconomics, and a member of the Pharmacoeconomics Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, among other academic and professional roles.
Associate Professor Wai Kit Ming
Wai Kit Ming is an associate professor (with tenure) in Public Health and Epidemiology, assistant director of the Institute of Global Governance and Innovation for a Shared Future, and programme leader of the Master of Public Health (MPH) at the City University of Hong Kong. He is an experienced clinical doctor and medical educator, with over 15 years of experience teaching and mentoring medical students. To date, he has supervised more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate research students.
Prof. Ming received his postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford, where he was a fellow at the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (2015–2016). He subsequently completed a second fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, within the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics (2016–2018). He earned a Master of Medical Sciences in Clinical Investigation from Harvard University in 2018 and got an Executive MBA at the University of Cambridge (2024–2026), with a focus on leadership and health systems innovation.
Dr. Dennis Xuan
Dr. Dennis Xuan, PhD from the Department of Healthcare Policy and Management at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. He also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Public Health at Chapel Hill. Dr. Xuan has experience in cost-effectiveness analysis, budget impact models, and patient-reported outcomes research. He has also published several peer-reviewed articles and presented abstracts at international conference on topics such as pharmacoeconomics, HTA, and real-world data analysis.
Associate Professor Wenjing Ji
Associate Professor Wenjing Ji, Xi'an Jiaotong University. Research Fellow at Harvard University during 2017-2018. She has worked in the medical departments of top pharmaceutical companies for 6 years. The current research interest focuses on rare disease, real-world study, disease burden, drug utilization research.
Associate Professor Le Gao
Gao Le is an associate professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University and an Honorary Honory Research Associate at the University of Hong Kong. She serves as a committee member for several professional organizations, including the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE), the Clinical Efficacy Evaluation Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the Evidence-Based Toxicology Committee of the Chinese Society of Toxicology, and the AI4Evidence System Integration Methodology Group of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association's Evidence-Based Medicine Committee.
