附：Charles Wood 教授简介：

    Charles Wood, PhD, is the Lewis Lehr 3M University Distinguished Professor at the University of Nebraska. He obtained his PhD from Columbia University in 1981, then as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Basal Institute for Immunology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He started his research on HIV with his tenure at Abbott Laboratory in 1983. At Abbott, he was a group leader and staff scientist with the original research team that developed the first blood diagnostic test for HIV infection. While at Abbott he was also an adjunct faculty in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology at Northwestern University. He left Abbott join the University of Kansas as an assistant professor in 1985, became associate professor in 1989. From 1992 to 1996, he served as the director of the Division of Neurovirology at the University of Miami until he left to join the faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

 

    Since coming to UNL, Wood has established the Nebraska Center for Virology, which is an NIH-funded Center for Biomedical Research Excellence, and serves as its Director. He also established and directs the NIH-funded Fogarty International Training Program in HIV/AIDS Malignancies, which provides training for Zambian and Chinese biomedical scientists and health care providers to increase their expertise in performing biomedical, behavioral and preventative research on HIV- and AIDS-associated malignancies. His own Zambia research programs focus on the transmission of HIV from mothers to their infants, the relationship between HIV and human herpesvirus and the evolution of HIV. Through this work and his relationship with scientists and administrators at the University of Zambia, he was able to build a laboratory and research clinic at the university’s Teaching Hospital of the University of Zambia.

 

    Wood currently is principal investigator and co-principal investigator on several active NIH grants. He has published over 120 articles and is an editor of several virology journals and also serves on numerous review panels for the National Institute of Health. He received the University of Nebraska College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Research and Creative Achievement in Science Award in 2003 and the Sigma Xi Most Outstanding Scientist Award in 2005.
